Kudos to Victoria Azarenka for
winning her first Grand Slam and for becoming the number one in the world in
WTA! I was rooting for Maria Sharapova after Kim Clijsters exited the
tournament in the semifinals but Victoria was in superb form and her win was
well deserved. My commiseration to Maria for losing another chance of winning a
Grand Slam 6-3, 6-0 was just disbelief, though the way she handled herself
during the ceremony was pretty admirable. She’s such a fine athlete. Nice words
from her to Victoria. Maria is undeniably passionate about tennis and there is
no doubt that she’s gonna win another slam in the future to add to her Wimbledon,
US Open and Australian Open titles.
